Rodrygo Saves the Day for Real Madrid Against Sevilla

Rodrygo saved the day for Real Madrid as he scored twice to give Los Blancos a 2-1 win over Sevilla in their LaLiga match. The visiting team was missing one of their young stars, Vinícius Júnior, due to an international uproar against the racial abuse he had endured recently.

Vinícius Junior had been absent from the field due to what coach Carlo Ancelotti said was a knee injury that also kept him from playing midweek against Rayo Vallecano. This followed an outcry of support from his native Brazil after the player was racially abused by fans during last weekend’s game at Valencia.

However, despite being without Vinícius, Real Madrid managed to come away with a victory thanks to Rodrygo’s two goals in the first half of the game. The 19-year-old attacking midfielder was decisive in helping Los Blancos take all three points from their trip to Andalusia. It was his second double of the season and his sixth goal overall since joining Real Madrid ahead of the 2019–20 season.

Rodrygo is proving himself as one of Real Madrid’s most promising players and will likely be wearing the famous white jersey for many seasons to come. He has already shown tremendous skill on the pitch and could become one of Los Blancos’ most crucial players in their 2022–23 campaign if he continues to perform this well throughout this season and beyond.

It’s clear that Rodrygo is becoming a key part of Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid project, despite only being 19 years old. He has already made 30 appearances for Los Blancos, including 18 starts and 14 substitute appearances across all competitions this season alone. His key goalscoring abilities have seen him contribute 11 goals in those matches, making him a real weapon up front for Zidane’s side alongside Karim Benzema and Eden Hazard.

This impressive performance against Sevilla just goes to show how vital Rodrygo can be for Real Madrid going forward, especially now that Vinícius Júnior has been forced off the field due to racism targeting him recently. Even though Vinícius may not be able to help in attack right now, there’s no doubt Rodrygo will continue doing his best and doing justice with every opportunity he gets on the pitch while wearing the iconic white jersey of Real Madrid.
